Abstract

Candida auris , an emerging fungal pathogen with significant morbidity and mortality, can be difficult for health care facilities to identify, isolate, and control. We present our identification and infection control response to Candida auris at a 695-bed academic level I trauma center in Florida. • Candida auris is an easily transmissible emerging pathogen. • Relatively few hospital-grade disinfectants carry a kill claim for Candida auris. • Point-prevalence colonization screening impacted discharge planning. • Basic infection prevention practices, such as hand hygiene, remain paramount.
