Abstract

A recent study compared the outcomes of two different urinary diversion procedures, ileal conduit (IC) and cutaneous ureterostomy (CU), after open radical cystectomy (ORC) for bladder cancer. The study found that both procedures had similar rates of perioperative complications and tube-free dependence at 90 days and 12 months. The researchers concluded that CU can be offered as an alternative to IC for select patients undergoing ORC. This information may be useful for individuals considering urinary diversion surgery after bladder cancer treatment. [Extracted from the article]
