Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at the West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP) explored the potential anti-breast cancer effects of Pediococcus acidilactici, a probiotic bacteria isolated from human breast milk. The study found that exposure to live P. acidilactici and its cell-free supernatant (CFS) resulted in a reduction in breast cancer cell viability and increased expression of certain cytokines. Additionally, the CFS inhibited cancer cell mobility. These findings suggest that P. acidilactici may have potential as a therapeutic agent in breast cancer treatment. Further research is needed to investigate its usefulness in this regard. [Extracted from the article]
