Abstract
- A study conducted by researchers at Northwestern University examined the impact of resectoscope sheath size on the outcomes of holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP). The study compared the use of a 24F scope to a 28F scope and found that there was no significant difference in surgical duration or postoperative outcomes between the two groups. However, patients treated with the 28F scope were more likely to achieve effective same-day trial of void and had a shorter length of stay. The study suggests that if same-day discharge is part of the postoperative pathway, the 28F scope may be beneficial. [Extracted from the article]
