Abstract

A recent study conducted by Baylor Scott and White Health in Temple, Texas, examined the impact of frailty scores on the complications of holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) procedure. The study analyzed data from 837 patients and found that frail patients had a higher risk of perioperative complications, including blood transfusion, failed voiding trial, and postoperative readmission. However, both frail and nonfrail patients experienced similar functional outcomes after the procedure. The researchers suggest that frail patients should be informed about their increased risk of complications, despite the potential benefits of HoLEP. [Extracted from the article]
