Abstract

A recent study conducted by the Department of Dermatology in New Hyde Park, New York, aimed to assess the validity of using diagnostic codes to identify cases of lichen planus (LP) and lichen planopilaris (LPP) in a large clinical database. The study found that LP and LPP diagnosis codes applied by any physician can generate accurate case cohorts for LP and LPP, respectively. However, the use of LP codes applied by a dermatologist may be necessary to accurately identify non-oral LP cases. This research has been peer-reviewed and provides valuable insights into the diagnosis of these skin conditions. [Extracted from the article]
