Abstract

A recent study conducted at Moscow MV Lomonosov State University has investigated the effects of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress inducer dithiothreitol (DTT) on the morphology and motility of human dermal fibroblasts and fibrosarcoma cells. The researchers found that DTT caused disruption of the actin cytoskeleton organization in both cell types, resulting in changes in cell surface, shape, and spreading area. Additionally, DTT reduced the motility of both cell types. These findings suggest that ER stress induced by DTT affects the motility of normal and tumor cells, which should be considered when developing anti-tumor drugs that activate ER stress.
