Abstract

Researchers from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt have conducted a study on the effect of gadolinium doping on the properties of hematite nanoparticles. The researchers found that gadolinium ions had a high solubility limit in the hematite lattice and that the lattice parameters increased with increasing gadolinium concentration. The study also revealed that the band gap energies of the nanoparticles decreased with gadolinium doping. Additionally, the particles showed low cytotoxicity and were suggested to have potential applications in fields such as photocatalysis, biosensors, and antibacterial agents. The research has been peer-reviewed and published in the Journal of Alloys and Compounds. [Extracted from the article]
