Abstract

A recent study conducted at the University of Miami evaluated the outcomes of holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) in patients with different prostate sizes. The study found that HoLEP had consistent and safe outcomes across a wide range of prostate sizes. While patients with very large prostates had a higher risk of perioperative blood transfusion and patients with small prostates had a higher risk of transient acute urinary retention, overall efficacy and safety were not significantly influenced by prostate size. The study concluded that HoLEP is a viable treatment option for patients with varying prostate sizes. [Extracted from the article]
