Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Jeonbuk National University in South Korea explored potential natural inhibitors against the 3C protease of the foot and mouth disease virus (FMDV). FMDV is a highly infectious animal disease that primarily affects cloven-hoofed animals such as cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs. The researchers used a structure-based virtual screening method to identify five potential compounds with strong binding affinity to the 3C protease. These compounds have the potential to be developed into natural therapeutics for the management of FMD. [Extracted from the article]
