Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers at Wenzhou Medical University in Zhejiang, China, explores the potential of using ultralow-dose chemical drugs to induce pyroptosis, a form of cell death, as a means of enhancing antitumor immune function. The study establishes a near-infrared light controllable killing system that effectively transports ultralow-dose doxorubicin to tumor cells, resulting in efficient pyroptosis. The researchers found that this system demonstrated good tumor targeting and penetration, and that ultralow-dose chemotherapy was sufficient for inducing a robust pyroptosis-mediated antitumor immunity. This research provides new insights into the design of nanoassisted systems for activating antitumor immunity and suggests the potential of ultralow-dose chemotherapy in antitumor therapies.
