Abstract
- Researchers from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens have developed a new agar-based screening method for testing the susceptibility of Trichophyton spp. to antifungal drugs. The method was validated using molecularly characterized isolates and showed optimal growth conditions and stability over time. It successfully detected non-wild type Trichophyton spp. strains, making it a useful tool for routine diagnostic laboratories. This research contributes to addressing the emerging global public health issue of resistance in dermatophytes. [Extracted from the article]
