Abstract

A recent study conducted by the University of Toronto explored the experiences of Asian youth with anti-Asian racism (AAR) in Canada. The study found that AAR can be both invisible and visible, depending on the context. When Asian youth are objectified within the boundaries of Whiteness norms, AAR is pervasive but inconspicuous. However, during events like the COVID-19 pandemic, AAR becomes visible in the form of overt discrimination, violence, and hate against Asians. The study also highlighted the roots of AAR in White supremacy and emphasized the reflexive insights of youth as a form of resistance. [Extracted from the article]
