Abstract

A recent study conducted in Szczecin, Poland, has found that botulinum toxin therapy is an effective treatment for overactive bladder (OAB) in female patients. The study aimed to compare the quality of life of patients with OAB before and after botulinum toxin treatment. The results showed that three and six months after the intervention, the scores for three validated questionnaires assessing quality of life were significantly lower than before treatment, indicating a reduction in OAB symptoms and their impact on quality of life. However, the severity of symptoms and their impact on quality of life were higher at six months compared to three months post-intervention. Overall, the study concludes that botulinum toxin therapy is an effective treatment for OAB. [Extracted from the article]
