Abstract
- A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Padova in Italy has identified a novel variant of the infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) in Egypt. The IBDV is a highly resistant RNA virus that causes immunosuppressive disease in poultry. The study found that this emerging genotype, known as A2dB1b, has been detected for the first time outside of Eastern and Southern Asia. The spread of this variant to Egypt is concerning, as current commercial vaccines may not provide optimal protection against it. These findings are important for monitoring and controlling the spread of the novel variant IBDVs and minimizing their impact. [Extracted from the article]
