Abstract
- The article discusses the challenges that artists face when trying to exhibit and sell their work, particularly the increasing requirement of submission fees by nonprofit spaces, artist-in-residence programs, grants, and museum shows. The article suggests two alternative markets for artists to consider: corporate art consulting/advising and for-profit galleries. It explains the advantages of working with art consultants/advisors, who can represent multiple artists and sell their work to corporations and individuals. It also advises artists to approach galleries that meet their criteria, regardless of size or location, and emphasizes the importance of a personal connection to the gallery's work.
