Abstract

Researchers from Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine have conducted a study on the relationship between lipid-lowering drugs (LLDs) and lung cancer risk. Using genetic instrumental variables, the study found that inhibiting certain proteins and enzymes associated with LLDs can decrease the risk of lung cancer, particularly in ever-smokers. The study also highlighted the role of sphingolipid metabolism, specifically neutral ceramidase, in mediating the reduced lung cancer risk. These findings emphasize the complex nature of the relationship between LLDs, sphingolipid metabolites, and lung cancer risk. [Extracted from the article]
