Abstract

A research team from Chiba University in Japan has developed a novel approach for preparing supramolecular polymers (SPs) at high concentrations. SPs are molecular assemblies composed of non-covalently bonded small molecules and have high recyclability. However, the formation of crystalline polymorphic states can reduce the solubility of drug molecules. To overcome this issue, the researchers used a supramolecular coformer approach, which significantly improved the solubility of the drug molecule without affecting its ability to form SPs. This approach has the potential to facilitate large-scale production of SPs and contribute to the development of recyclable plastics. [Extracted from the article]
