Abstract
- A recent study conducted at the Hospital Universitario de San Ignacio has reported on two cases of atypical acute inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (AIDP) in individuals with HIV infection. AIDP is an immune-mediated disorder that affects the peripheral nerves, resulting in myelin damage and sometimes axonal loss. The patients in the study experienced neurological symptoms such as progressive weakness and attenuation of tendinous reflexes. Both patients recovered after receiving intravenous immunoglobulin and temporary cessation of antiretroviral therapy. This research provides valuable insights into the relationship between HIV infection and AIDP. [Extracted from the article]
