Abstract
- This article presents the findings of a study on the use of clear aligners for distalizing the mandibular dentition. The study used finite element analysis to compare different methods and sites for total distalization. The results showed that clear aligners primarily cause mesiodistal tipping of individual teeth, with lingual tipping and extrusion of the mandibular anterior teeth being common. The study suggests that selecting the traction site and considering the elastic modulus of the aligners are important factors in achieving desired tooth movements. However, the study had limitations in terms of modeling individual patient diversity and clinical orthodontic force. Further research is needed to address these factors. [Extracted from the article]
