Abstract

A study conducted by the Department of Neurosurgery in Hempstead, New York, examined the long-term outcomes of surgical clipping of saccular middle cerebral artery (MCA) aneurysms. The researchers found that microsurgical clipping of MCA aneurysms remains a suitable treatment option, with a high occlusion rate and treatment durability. The study included 92 patients with 92 saccular MCA aneurysms, and complete aneurysm occlusion was achieved in all except one patient. The researchers concluded that MCA aneurysm clipping is safe, durable, and should be considered as a first-line treatment for patients with saccular MCA aneurysms, particularly in centers with extensive surgical experience.
