Abstract

New research from the University of Siena in Italy has found that age at diagnosis is a prognostic factor for differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) patients classified as low and intermediate risk. The study retrospectively evaluated 863 DTC patients and found that older age at diagnosis was associated with a higher rate of structural disease, recurrent disease, and death in the intermediate-risk group. The research suggests that age at diagnosis can help predict individual outcomes in intermediate-risk DTC patients, allowing for tailored management. This study has been peer-reviewed and published in The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism. [Extracted from the article]
