Abstract
- Researchers from Chonnam National University in Gwangju, South Korea, have conducted a study on ATP-Dependent Organic Anion Transporters (P-glycoprotein) and their role in pharmacokinetic variability. Using in silico molecular modeling, the researchers analyzed the mechanistic function of P-glycoprotein and investigated the influence of ABCB1 polymorphisms on its functioning. The study found that while ABCB1 polymorphisms may increase torsional energy and impact conformational change rate, they do not significantly affect P-glycoprotein's general functioning. These findings provide insights into the debate surrounding the influence of ABCB1 polymorphisms on the interindividual pharmacokinetic variability of P-glycoprotein substrates.
