Abstract

Researchers at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in Iran have developed a new stimulus-responsive organic/inorganic supramolecular nanostructure (SRN) for targeted combination cancer therapy. The SRNs were designed to deliver a combination of chemotherapy drugs, gene therapy, and magnetic hyperthermia therapy to multidrug-resistant cancer cells. The nanostructure was able to effectively release the drugs and siRNA inside cancer cells, resulting in synergistic cytotoxic effects. The researchers believe that this drug delivery system has potential applications in the treatment of drug-resistant cancer. [Extracted from the article]
