Abstract

Researchers at the University of Pecs School of Medicine in Hungary have conducted a study on sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). SIDS is a significant cause of post-neonatal mortality, but its underlying mechanisms are still unclear. The researchers propose that pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP) deficiency may be a promising avenue for studying SIDS. PACAP is a neuropeptide that plays a role in various physiological functions, and its absence has been linked to increased neonatal mortality. This mini-review provides a comprehensive synthesis of PACAP-related research in relation to SIDS. [Extracted from the article]
