Abstract

This article presents information on electroluminescence (EL). EL refers to all phenomena where light is generated under the influence of an electric field in a material. The scope of this article is limited to solid-state electroluminescent devices, which use a high electric field to generate light. The efficient zinc sulphates: manganese phosphor has been successfully used in thin-film electroluminescent devices (TFELDs) for 20 years and currently many research groups explore the color possibilities of TFELDs.
