The Algerian War Through the Noir Lens in Jacques Ferrandez and Maurice Attia’s Alger la noire.

The article analyzes the Algerian War from the noir perspective in Jacques Ferrandez and Maurice Atia's graphic novel "Alger la noire." It explores the merger of the traditional structure of detective plot with the sociopolitical and narrative devices of historical fiction of the Algerian War. It discusses the time, memory and teleology of detective fiction, Oedipal violence which situates the novel within the Mediterranean noir, intermedial elements and graphic interbraiding in the novel.
