Abstract
- This paper examines the regulatory framework established by the Fédération internationale de football association (FIFA), regarding the unilateral termination of a professional football player's contract without just cause and the consequences thereof on the basis of case law and bibliography. The paper shall further examine the results of their practical application and the need for their amendment, which emerges from the constantly changing nature of the pertinent industry and the specificity that characterizes the field of sport. The purpose of this paper is to present the regulatory framework of the international Lex Sportiva, which is claimed to ensure the maintenance of contractual stability for the parties involved, as well as the uniform and equal treatment of the contracting parties in football, through the issuance of decisions imposing monetary and sporting sanctions on the parties in breach. In particular, the purpose of this research is to examine the reasons for the termination of a professional football player's contract without just cause in international football and to contemplate on the legal issues arising from the imposition of sporting sanctions on the offending party. At a second level, the decisions that have been issued by the competent deciding bodies will be analyzed on their merits. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
