Chapter 14 of the volume on playwright and dramatist Henrik Ibsen in the Critical Heritage Series is presented. A reprint is provided of the article "Ibsen's Social Dramas" by critic Edmund Gosse, in the January 1, 1889 issue of "Fortnightly Review." The article focuses on the social dramas of Ibsen. Details and descriptions are given for his plays "The Pillars of Society," published in the year 1877, followed by "A Doll's House," "Ghosts" and "An Enemy of the People."
