Abstract

Cites a study presenting the purification of type II NADH dehydrogenase of Corynebacterium glutamicum (NDH-2) from an ndh over-producing strain. Enrichment of NDH-2 by 6-fold higher specific activity of NADH after purification; Ability of the purified enzyme to catalyze electron transfer from NADH and NADPH to oxygen as well as various artificial quinone analogs; Presentation of C. glutamicum NDH-2 as a source of the reactive oxygen species, superoxide and hydrogen peroxide, concominant with NADH and NADPH oxidation.
