Abstract
- This chapter presents the El Corrido de J. Frank Dobie, composed by Longino Guerrero in Texas. During the 1960s Guerrero wrote and recorded thirty-five songs. He continued his work in music, and in 1983, when he was sixty-seven years old, was inducted into the Tejano Music Hall of Fame as a singer and composer. The Frank Dobie corrido was not commercially recorded in 1965 but was taped and deposited in folklore archives. Guerrero had read Dobie's stories of the Mexican border and wrote the corrido, with some help from Frank Rios, as a memorial to Dobie.
