Abstract

The article presents information about direction and planning of sport for children and young people in Iraq. A Ministry for Youth affairs was set up in Iraq in 1968 as an essential organ for the direction of work with youth. The Ministry for Youth Affairs and the youth centers set up in various districts, where young people can go in above all for leisure pursuits in accordance with their age, receive regular subsidies. The Iraqi Youth Union was set up in 1972 as a mass youth organization. Various institutions, such as the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education were entrusted with the task to support the interests of the young people. The organizational process of youth is hampered and delayed by the disunion among institutions that feel responsible for these institutions. In this way it will become possible to raise the level in effectiveness of these social processes. A number of ministries pay much attention to the development of sports for the young generation. In these ministries have been set up special directorates and departments for physical culture and sport.
