Abstract

The article focuses on research on social basis with student athletes at upper secondary school in Japan. It is a matter for congratulation that sports activities have of late become popular among common people of society for making national life wholesome and comfortable. Especially in connection with the Olympic Games held in Tokyo, sports have become a matter of national concern; above all among students at upper secondary schools, sports activities have made remarkable progress and national efforts have strongly been made to find and cultivate superior athletes, as a measure of strengthening representative athletes for the Olympic games. Some special social conditions should be created in order to attain a high level for the student athletes. Therefore, in case of training and developing athletes out of the larger population basis, it will be necessary to make up for shortage of some social conditions today. And as the levels of skill become higher, their daily lives centre around sports.
