Bert Chenard appointed senior VP at pharmaceutical firm.

This article reports that Neurogen Corp., a drug discovery and development company, announced that Bertrand L. Chenard, has been appointed senior VP, Chemistry and Process Research. Chenard has been responsible for medicinal chemistry since joining the company in September 2001 and now adds the process research function to his responsibilities. As VP, Chemistry, he has directed Neurogen's medicinal chemistry programs to discover biologically active chemical compounds and to optimize leads so that they meet the qualifications necessary to be designated as preclinical development drug candidates. In his expanded role, Chenard will direct internal and external process research activities, whereby Neurogen chemists seek to simplify complex chemical processes used to synthesize drug candidates, allowing scale-up of drug material for use in preclinical and clinical development.
