Abstract

This article presents findings of a research previously published in the medical journal "European Journal of Neuroscience," conducted by researcher J.E.A. Wells. According to a study from Canada, Matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-12 expression has a negative impact on sensorimotor function following intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Wells investigated the role of MMPs in a mouse model of ICH. Transcripts encoding nine of the 23 known mammalian MMPs were measured. MMP-12 levels were the most elevated.
