Abstract

The new processes and changes in education arising from the health situation have increased the number of cases of academic stress in university students. We proposed to compare academic stress in students of public and private universities according to socio-demographic variables. A total of 1463 students from a public university and 5 private universities participated in the study. The study was descriptivecomparative, non-experimental, and a measurement instrument was used to identify the level of academic stress. It was concluded that the level of academic stress presented by the students in general is moderate with a tendency to be high and the self-perception of the university students is high, demonstrating that virtual and blended learning have brought changes to which the students have had to adapt. In conclusion, the study is original and clearly demonstrates the differences in academic stress behavior between public and private universities according to the socio-demographic variables of the students.
