Abstract

This paper presents the mathematical model and simulation of shielding gas flow in electric arc welding in a shielding gas environment, with the aim of determining the convective heat exchange coefficient by simulation. Electrical conduction analysis offers the possibility to determine current density and specific heat power distributions in regions of complex geometrical shape, which practically cannot be determined in any other way. The presented method allows to obtain material properties, and especially their temperature dependence, which cannot be determined directly, experimentally, such as those of the electric arc.
