Abstract

To understand the influences that allow teachers to teach creatively, this study investigates the multicultural experience of teachers and the mediating effects of their cultural intelligence (CQ), which are important but underestimated factors. A questionnaire was conducted with 1,294 elementary and high school teachers in four Asia–Pacific countries, including Taiwan, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia. The analysis was conducted using multigroup structural equation modeling and established a relationship between the multicultural experience of teachers and their creative teaching. In addition, the analysis proved the mediating effect of CQ. The results also revealed differences in the relationships among the four countries. The mediating effect of CQ on the relationship between teachers' multicultural experience and creative teaching was stronger in Indonesia and weaker in Vietnam compared to Taiwan and the Philippines. The study discusses the possible reasons for these differences, such as the cultural diversity of each country. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
