Abstract
- In this paper, the influence of foreign portfolio investment flows on the returns of the stock market in Brazil is analyzed using monthly data from 2003 to 2018. One main contribution of the paper is that it explicitly takes into account expectations about output, inflation, and interest rates, as well as commodity prices. Results show that these variables help to explain the returns of the stock market index. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
