Abstract

The article focuses on a study, published in the 2004 issue of the journal Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, which states that organosulfur compounds (OSCs) in garlic may alter chemotherapeutic treatments. According to researchers, the OSCs, present in garlic, are studied for their protective effect against human cancers. P-glycoprotein and multidrug resistance protein 2 are two transporters involved in the defense of cells and in the development of multidrug resistance, in the opinion of the researchers.
