The article encourages fire service leaders to accept the risk that they might encounter when developing programs, expanding resources or working toward culture change. Emphasis is given on the significance of organizational adaptation for the wildland fire service to embrace change without agency bias. It cautions fire service leaders against potential resistance to change and retaliation manifested in threats, alienation and physical harm.
