Abstract

As an important halophyte, Suaeda salsa has many ecological benefits, such as improving soil properties, reducing soil salt content, repairing soil heavy metal pollution, purifying eutrophic water, and so on. In China, Chemical herbicides have been used unreasonably for a long time, and their non target residues have caused serious environmental pollution. In order to study the inhibitory effect of chemical herbicides on seed germination and seedling growth of S. salsa, type I and type II seeds of S. salsa from inland artificial planting base, transition zone and intertidal zone were used as experimental materials. The effects of chemical herbicide cyclozi-none (375, 750, 1125, 1500 ml/hm2) on seed germination and seedling growth of S. salsa were analyzed. The results showed that the herbicides of low concentration had no obvious inhibitory effect on seed germination and seedling growth of S. salsa. The dimorphic seeds of S. salsa were affected by herbicides differently, type I seeds was affected significantly less than that of type II seeds. Seeds from the intertidal zone were less affected by herbicides, followed by inland artificial planting base, and seeds from the transition zone were more diverse. The herbicide and NaCl had an antagonistic effect on S. salsa type I seeds, and a synergistic effect on type II seeds. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
