Abstract

The surface properties of machined components not only affect their optical but also functional behaviour, which makes information about waviness and roughness an important basis for optimization approaches. Therefore the still often used tactile measurement principles in industrial applications are continuously replaced by non-destructive optical measurement principles enabling faster and more flexible measuring. This paper discusses the comparability of different surface parameters, which were generated by profile or areal measurement using both the tactile and the stripe light projection principle. Based on the results the validity of the investigated parameters for different applications and materials can be increased. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
