For instance, within BER (2020), chapter 2 (acoustic survey design) reads very differently from chapter 4 (echolocation call identification). Despite the disappointments in hoping that survey design (chapter 2) would offer real guidance on putting together a study and providing tips (chapter 3) on choosing a bat detector by actually providing tangible choices, the editors of BER (2020) did a commendable job in a short period of time to cobble together a refresher volume as a companion to BER from 15 years prior.
