Abstract

The article reports that east New York may not be considered the most nurturing neighborhood, one children's furniture maker found the area an ideal location in which to take its early business steps. For 18 years, the Brooklyn locale provided cheap rent and ample storage space for the firm's cribs and changing tables. But a spate of recent agreements for licensing characters such as Dora the Explorer and the Wiggles has nudged Delta Enterprise Corp. into a growth phase and a move to Chelsea. Furthermore, Delta executives hope to be able to draw interns and employees from the neighboring Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons School of Design, and to attract members of the nearby toy and childrenswear industries as clients.
