Abstract

Keywords: Diabetes mellitus; Eating behaviours; Glycaemic variability; Hypoglycaemia EN Diabetes mellitus Eating behaviours Glycaemic variability Hypoglycaemia N.PAG N.PAG 1 02/13/21 20210201 NES 210201 Type 1 diabetes (T1D) patients may experience changes to their eating behaviours following the diagnosis. Regarding glycaemic variability, patients with lower BMI had higher MAGE (P=0.006), and patients with smaller waist circumferences displayed high CVs (P=0.01). Glycaemic variability was also related to external behaviours and, using self-reported questionnaires, it was evident that T1D patients expressing cognitive restraint behaviours were heavier, a relationship previously reported in obese people, but less often described in T1D patients.
