Abstract

The article examines how political infighting and debt hamper Papua New Guinea's prime minister, James Marape's reform. It mentions that Marape's own deputy prime minister, Sam Basil, and his foreign minister, Patrick Pruaitch had expressed frustration with the government's economic performance, especially its mounting debt. It mentions Basil and Pruaitch announced a serious challenge to Marape's leadership that gave Namah support to seize control of Parliament.
