Abstract

The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage: By SYDNEY PADUA. Hat's off then to Sydney Padua, a graphic artist who has managed to put together a "counter factual" history that is both amusing and informative and which places computer pioneer Charles Babbage at the centre of Victorian society (and correctly, more misunderstood than celebrated). The book rattles along in animated style, whilst being accompanied by detailed footnotes that comment on the narrative or introduce people that Babbage and Lovelace knew (or in some cases didn't but perhaps should have done).
