Abstract
- This article reports that North Fork Bank will replace the GreenPoint Bank name with its own starting in 2005. Days after closing on the merger with GreenPoint Bank, North Fork Bank chief executive John Adam Kanas said that his Melville-based financial services company will replace the GreenPoint name with its own starting in 2005. North Fork, which originally announced that it was acquiring New York-based GreenPoint in February, closed on the $6.4 billion acquisition on October 1. GreenPoint has 96 branches, according to Kanas, who added that 15 to 20 of those will be merged into existing North Fork branches starting in 2005.
