Abstract
- The article examines the economic benefits of hosting sports venues to local communities in the U.S. by analyzing the move by the New York Yankees professional baseball team to end its Double-A affiliation with minor league team Trenton Thunder and partner with the Somerset Patriots. Also cited are the comments by economists like Andrew Zimbalist that the economic effects of stadiums and other sports venues are minimal.
